How to maintain organizational effectiveness

SO...just WHAT  IS  IT?

It is especially important for leaders to maintain a strong level of organizational effectiveness. Just what is 'organizational effectiveness'? Simply put organizational effectiveness is a way to measure the success of how a company achieves its goals.

Is your organization achieving its goals for employees, setting leadership priorities, making and implementing decision-making strategies, and creating an engaged workplace?

ARE COMPANIES TRULY EFFECTIVE?

Leaders should ask themselves the following questions about how they can create more efficacy within their company.

 1.  Have we clearly communicated our strategy to our team?

2.  Are our teams working closely together to achieve the company's priorities?

3.  Have we defined goals and provided the tools needed to reach those goals?

4.  Are our team members working efficiently with both internal and external clients?

4 areas to organizational effectiveness

COMMUNICATE CLEAR STRATEGY

Setting clear priorities are critical for an organization to rally its employees, create its structure, and build its culture.

  1.  Clarify long term goals

  2. Create objectives and milestones  so team members can be held accountable.

  3. Ask leaders to create a list of top priorities for the next 1-3 years.

BUILD STRONG TEAMS

Empowered teams take pride and have a sense of ownership for the company. The strength and power of an engaged team helps leaders achieve the company's goals.

  1.  Share the vision and mission in ways that allow team members to 'see' their part in making it happen.

  2. Gain input from every level - managers to front line workers - to help move the vision forward.

  3. Train and develop teams to expand their inner strengths.

DEFINE CLEAR GOALS

Leaders must set clear and measurable goals. Choosing the right metrics lets leaders know what is working and what is not. Consider the following:

  1.  Are the goals concrete with accountability measures?

  2. Are leaders clearly outlining expectations and providing feedback?

  3. Are team members evaluated regularly?

COMMITMENT TO SERVICE

Consistency with service delivery is paramount to organizational effectiveness. During times of change, both internal and external service must align with the priorities of the leadership.

  1.  Collaborative internal service sends a strong message to your external customers.

  2. Prudent service systems help identify customer issues quickly.

  3. Communicate your company's expectations about service to team members.
